Function Keys

Function Keys are a great way to quickly open new pages in Orion.  These shortcuts may be used in any Telemet Orion display to easily view market data:

Press the F5 Function Key to launch a Snap Quote
Press the F12 Function Key to launch a NASDAQ Level II
Press the F10 Function Key to launch a Time & Sale window

Wildcard Searches for Ticker Lookup

Telemet Orion Ticker Lookup tool can be used to find the symbol for stocks, mutual funds, economic indexes, etc.  Tools >Ticker lookup.  If you are unsure of the exact name, enter a “*” or “%” sign and then one word within the name to perform a wildcard returning all results with that word in the name.

For example, let’s say you want to know the ticker for the Unemployment Rate Index.  Typing “unemployment” in the search bar will return no results.

However, using the “*” or “%” sign in front of the word “unemployment” will deliver more results, including what you were looking for: US Unemployment Rate – EMPLOY

Find the symbol for a company, mutual fund, index, etc.

1. Use the toolbar and select the binoculars with a “?” mark symbol.

2. Type only the first part of the name so that no companies are excluded in your search.    

3. Under the Type section, be sure to use Index for mutual funds or indexes and Stock for equities or ETFs. 

4. Press the Look Up button once you have selected all your criteria.  Double click the name you want from the results window OR click once and press OK.  The Snap Quote for that name will then open in a new window.

• The Ticker Lookup tool can also be accessed from the menu bar under Options then Ticker Lookup.

Back Up Your Telemet Orion Settings and Customizations

Use the Replication utility to make a copy of your Telemet Orion settings and  transfer them to another computer or for backup in case of a future hard drive problem.

Tools > Replicate > with Registration to make a copy of your settings, then Tools > Import > Replication Files to import saved settings. 

You can also set a schedule to perform automatic backups.  Choose Tools > Replicate > Schedule.

Upgrade to the Newest Release!

Quickly upgrade to the latest version of Telemet Orion through the Help menu.  Choose Help then select Download Latest Release.  The upgrade process backs up all your old settings so no need to fear a loss of customization!

Note: Before upgrading, make sure you have administrative permissions on your computer.  Also, be sure to have Excel closed before running the installation wizard.

New Foreign Data Indicators in Upper Chart Design

Telemet Orion now offers International Economic Indicators! Some of the regions now covered include:

·         Asia

·         Central Europe

·         Developed Asia

·         Emerging Nations

·         EU

·         Latin American & the Caribbean

·         Middle East & North Africa

·         Sub-Saharan Africa

Foreign Economic Indicators may be added to Telemet Orion Charts through the Upper Chart Design menu within Options.  Simply browse and select the data you want to chart from the expandable sections in the upper left-hand corner of the Upper Chart Design window. 

Supply Demand Charts

Supply Demand charts within Telemet Orion are Trading Histograms.  They show the volume traded at any given price for up to five days (selected by the user).  The two lines on the chart are color-coded. They are the Average Price and the Volume Weighted Average Price (VWAP).  The two arrows on the left edge are the current bid and ask.  Pointing to a bar and pressing the mouse button will show all trades at that price.

Company History

Company History screens show Dividends, Sales, Splits, and Corporate Action data since the year 2000.

The Dividends tab shows the Dividend Amount, Record Date, X-Date, and Pay Date for the Stock over the past ten years.

 

 

Company Snap Report

The Telemet Orion Snap Report is the compilation of several features of the platform conveniently built into a single page. The report data has a wealth of information such as company business lines, industry trends, and a summary of recent financial performance.

1. From any Telemet Orion screen select Display > Snap Report, a Change Ticker dialog box appears

2. Enter the desired ticker symbol in the Ticker entry field. Select ticker Type and Exchange and then click on the OK button.

TIP: You can also quickly open a Snap Report from any Telemet Orion screen by using your Function 11 key

 

 

 

·  To display information on a different Stock you can easily change the Ticker by typing the new symbol on your keyboard.

·  To change columns in the Peer Group Comparison section of the Snap Report page, select Columns from the Options menu. The Select Columns dialog appears displaying column groups available for this section. Set new columns the same way as you would do it in a Custom Price page.

·  The upper right quadrant of the Snap Report page displays a Historical graph. Place the cursor anywhere in the historical information and hold down the left mouse button. A sub-window appears displaying data of Open, High, Low, Last, Volume, and Day. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the cursor throughout the Historical graph to change the date and the data in the sub-window. This gives you the Open, High, Low, Last, and Volume for every day for the past ten years.

Telemet Orion Supports Integration with Thompson Research

Telemet Orion Supports integration with Thompson Research through Research Direct.

1.      Select Display >Research>Research Direct

2.      Enter the ticker symbol

3.     All Research notes for the ticker are displayed.   Search depth is selected by specifying the number of days to search. 

4.      Double clicking on a story brings up the Research note in a new web browser window

Subscribers may also set up alerts on custom price pages, search on key words, analysts, and subjects.

Telemet Orion offers integration with Advent and Portfolio Center

Did you know Telemet Orion offers integration with Advent AXYS and APX, as well as Charles Schwab’s Portfolio Center, allowing users to view portfolios directly though custom pages, multi-style attribution, and other portfolio analytics windows?

Telemet Orion v8 can import portfolio data from any portfolio management, order management, or trust accounting system that can export to standard text based files. Please note that, assuming your exported portfolio files will be consistently saved with the same formatting, the setup process will only need to be followed once. Once the Data Storage Descriptor is successfully created and the exported Portfolio Account files are identified, the Portfolio Accounts can be selected within Orion as needed.

Telemet has teamed with Standard and Poor's to provide clients with S&P consensus revenue, EPS, broker recommendations, target price, and other estimates data.  Subscribers also have access to company three page reports showing detailed estimates. These exclusive reports show revenue and EPS, margin, and other metrics as well as charts and tables highlighting trends in estimates, target prices, and broker recommendations.

S&P Estimates data may also be used throughout the Telemet Orion platform in custom pages and queries - allowing clients to identify new investment ideas by searching and screening on the consensus estimate data.
